PSG Could Face Lionel Messi in Potential Club World Cup Showdown.

Paris Saint-Germain is set to take on Inter Miami in the Round of 16 at the FIFA Club World Cup, marking a highly anticipated reunion with former star Lionel Messi, two years after his departure from the French side.

Messi joined PSG from Barcelona in 2021. While he delivered strong performances in Ligue 1, he was unable to guide the team to success in the UEFA Champions League. His contract expired after two seasons, and he left the club as a free agent.

His exit was marked by controversy. Just weeks before leaving, Messi took an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia, resulting in disciplinary action from PSG. Upon returning, he faced boos from the home crowd.

Although he issued an apology, the incident effectively ended his tenure at the club. Since moving to Inter Miami, Messi has spoken critically about his time in Paris.

The upcoming clash on Sunday, June 29th, will reunite the World Cup winner with his former club as PSG and Inter Miami battle for a spot in the next round of the tournament.
